College Tomorrow

I start school tomorrow.
how am I this old??
Honestly I am so scared to death!
The only thing that really seems to make me feel better is remembering how many people go to college and they come out alive!!
hahaha

On a completely different note, is anyone excited for the new season of scandal??
I am obsessed!
once I finished Grey's, my mom told me I would love scandal (also written by Shonda)
and I am just hooked!
I am almost done with season 3, will be starting season 4 soon and will hopefully finish it just in time for the new season!

And since I am just doing a bunch of random topics, I am going to share some of my latest and greatest inspirations.

I love this  LOVE! Duh!

the countdown to college

these past couple weeks have been so busy and stressful!
Between preparing for college, the pageant and working two jobs
I am just beat!
I am just so fortunate to be surrounded by so many people who love me
and who support me in everything I choose to do.
After posting about my dresses to raise money for the pageant,
I sold all of them that night!!

Such a tremendous blessing.
I truly don't know what I would do without you guys!

Guys, I start college in 2 weeks.....
scared, anxious, overwhelmed, excited
there are not enough words to describe how I am feeling!
I am so ready to get my schooling and my life started.
I was shopping with Court yesterday,
and there was this kid that was telling the cashier that he was back to school shopping
and we walked out of there feeling on top of the world because we never need to go back to high school AGAIN!!!!!
honestly one of the best feelings in the world if you ask me.

Does anyone have some beginning advice for a brand spankin new college student??
I feel like there are things I am just not prepared for at all.
I had no clue that the professors will post on the website what kind of books you need???
I thought they just told us on the first day of school??
I don't have any books yet, and I am definitely not feeling prepared at all.
I think high schools should reevaluate how they are preparing students to become successful as college students.
am I right??
well that's it for now..

New job, new school, next chapter...

I have had such a tremendous week!
I have been so excited to write about this but didn't want to say anything until I knew for sure what was going to happen
BUUUUUUT
I got a new job!!!!!
I am the newest sales rep for Vector Marketing!
VM is the direct sales arm for Cutco cutlery.
I love love love selling and being able to work closely with customers.
This job provides all of that with the flexibility I need to work at the boutique as well.
It's not telemarketing, its not door to door selling
I start with friends, family, ward, etc
and get referrals from them, so it's always a comfortable and relatable environment.
I get free training on how to sell, and basically learn how to run this on my own.
how cool is that??
And since I am going to be running my own business one day I figured that this job will benefit me in so many ways.
My new manager is so supportive and made me feel like I could honestly tackle this new challenge.
This company makes it easy and possible to work your way up and gives little perks like higher percentage commission on top of great pay.
I get paid commission off of every sale, I make my own hours, and they hire students who are looking to gain real world experience while working and making money.
Some students only work summers, and make enough to last them until the next summer.
Such a huge blessing!

I also registered for college today and oh my heavens,
real life is coming way faster than I am prepared for.
I have just had an all around great week and I am hoping to share a few more items of good news with you next week ;)

thanks for reading, and if you guys are interested I am sharing the link below for VM.

Nana Fisher

I really think I have the coolest family in the world.
On Sunday, my dad was reading us some family history from his side of the family and reading us stories of our ancestors that had crossed the plains with the pioneers.
All I could think about was how cool it was hearing about these people, hearing what their hobbies were, how they met their spouse, challenges they faced while crossing the plains, etc.

It really left an impression on me about how important family history is, and if someone hadn't written down those stories, they would have been forgotten over time.
After thinking deeply about that, a special memory that I shared with my Great Grandma, Nana Fisher, came to mind.

My Nana (my moms mom) immigrated to the US when she was 19 with her sister after serving an LDS mission in Scotland. She was converted to the church when she was younger and her dad was the only one in the family to not be baptized.
Because of the missionaries that converted my Nana and her family, I was born with the gospel in my life since day one.
I am so so so lucky!
She met my poppa at a stake dance and the rest is history.

My Great Grandma, Nana Fisher immigrated here with her husband in 1972, 9 years after my Nana had moved here.
She has always lived her life faithful in the gospel and is the most selfless person I have ever met.

She dresses up every Sunday in her church clothes even if she is sick and can't go to church because her mother always taught her to put her best clothes on for the Lord.
She is so stubborn and still does yard work... at 96 years old!

About 3 or 4 months ago, I took my Nana Fisher out for dinner just to get her out of the house.
I think we stopped about 5 times, just going in to the restaurant so she could talk to people who looked like they were down.
After dinner, I took her grocery shopping to pick up a few items.
We ended up being in the store about an hour because she had to take scenic routes to smile at the workers who, "never get the attention and appreciation they deserve."

When I took her home and walked her in, we were sitting and talking.
She gets up and takes me over to a picture frame hanging on her wall.
She begins to tell me a story about how her bishop had talked to her about serving a mission years ago.
She had some sort of illness at the time that gave her sores on her face and she said, "look at me, I can't serve a mission looking like this."
Her bishop then says, "If I were to give you enough money for you and a friend to go around the world on a trip, would you go?"
She said "I wouldn't want to go around the world, I would want to go to the Holy Land. I have always wanted to see where the saviors been."
After talking back and forth about the idea of her serving, he asked her to come back to him when she was ready.

Not long after this conversation, she went to visit her daughter Myra in Kentucky.
My Nana's husband had passed away a few years prior and so she went alone to visit her.
While she was there, Myra had a hair appt. and my Nana Fisher didn't want to go in, so she just stood outside the salon and walked around in a small grove with lots of trees.
It was mid November, so the leaves had all fallen on the ground.
She was walking around and kicking up the leaves when she kicked something that had appeared to be white among all the brown leaves.
It was some sort of sewing project and the white that stood out so much from the leaves was a white cloth.
She picked it up and cleaned it off as best as she could, and read the words that were stitched in the fabric.

"the Lord saying,
whom shall I send,
and who will go for us?
Then said I,
Here I am, send me,"
Isaiah 6:8

She said she stood their crying holding it because she knew that she was meant to serve a mission and she had received her answer from the Lord.

How cool is that?
She has it now framed and hanging on her wall.

I cried when she told me this story.
I am such a baby when it comes to missionary work!
I am so grateful that I have such faithful women in my life to look up to, and that I get to tell my kids about these women one day.

Make time for the people you have in your life, and listen to their stories!
It is such a blessing.

Fall and Winter 2015

So I have been a little lazy with doing posts!
I genuinely want to make this something I do often, but I just have a hard time staying consistent.
I am going to try to do at least 3 times a week.
(fingers crossed)

Not much has been going on with me in my life lately.
I am going crazy without a busy schedule, so I am very excited for school!
My sleep schedule is all messed up and I need some discipline and consistency back in my life!

Fall/Winter 2015 is going to be beautiful!
I love love love love fall and winter fashion.
I am totally biased to fall fashion.

Shameful Indulgence

Have you ever changed something about your life
and then later realized how much you love it?
THIS IS ME RIGHT NOW.
And my shameful indulgences.

I am working so hard to eat healthier and workout everyday.
I have even convinced myself that I will start running! (HA!)
Me and Nate joke that we will one day walk a marathon because we both are AWFUL at running and could never run one hahaha
really though, my mom is a rock star and goes running everyday.
So one day I went with her and Calum on a run to Costco and back....
I called my dad to come pick me up because I thought I was going to fall over and die!
Oh well, we all have weaknesses right??

Since changing my eating habits my sweet tooth has gone crazy!!!
My first shameful indulgence admission: donuts.

My weakness is any pastry. I don't think i have tried one pastry i don't succumb to.

My second is...shoes.
I have come to find out that very few things ever feel as good as when you buy new shoes.
I definitely consider this one of my biggest weaknesses!
When work gets slow, I catch myself online shopping all the time!

The Preslie Metallic Perforated Loafer

My third is picture frames.

Is it even a thing to be addicted to picture frames? Because I am.
I have soooo many pictures frames, and continue to buy them.
TJ Maxx makes it just so dang easy to get cute ones for really cheap!

And last but not least, the Kardashians.
Gasp, i know right?
I am awful but it is true.

But Kendall... c'mon now. She is stunning!
Her most recent Estee' Lauder ad was beautiful!
